Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Sang-il) is accelerating efforts to implement projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy and closing welfare blind spots following the passage of the supplementary budget. In particular, the city is making thorough preparations to provide financial assistance to vulnerable groups affected by rising international oil prices.

On April 20, Mayor Lee Sang-il held an executive officials’ meeting at the Suji District Office to review key city issues. To minimize the impact of persistently high oil prices due to recent instability in the Middle East, the city established a dedicated task force for “High Oil Price Damage Support.” The task force is divided into five areas: overall project management, administrative support, equipment support, fund distribution management, and public outreach. This structure will enable timely support for residents.

The city is also intensively managing medical consumables in response to the instability in the Middle East. By sharing information promptly with pharmaceutical associations and frequently checking inventory, the city aims to maintain stability in the local healthcare system.

A public contest for urban regeneration in the area of 727, Pungdeokcheon-dong is also underway. Yongin City plans to submit a proposal to Gyeonggi Province on April 22 under the theme “Pungdeokcheon, Immersed in New Charms,” which will include programs to revitalize local businesses and improve the village environment.

The city has also established “Noise and Vibration Reduction Guidelines” to prevent inconveniences caused by outdoor unit noise and vibration in apartment complexes and other communal residential areas. These guidelines, which cover installation standards and management strategies, are intended to prevent noise and vibration issues from the early stages of project implementation.

Additionally, to minimize response times in case of crimes or emergencies, the city will install designated parking spaces for police vehicles at public roadside parking lots and similar facilities. As a pilot program, four locations will be selected for these designated police parking zones: Tongil Park in Cheoin District, Giheung Station, Seobong Park roadside parking lot in Suji District, and the Bojeong No. 2 Public Parking Lot.

Mayor Lee stated, “Yongin City has received the highest SA (Outstanding) grade for the first time in history in the pledge implementation evaluation by the Korea Manifesto Headquarters. Thanks to the dedication of our public officials, we have been able to realize most of the 212 pledges. As residents also report experiencing tangible progress and advancement in Yongin, I ask everyone to gain a thorough understanding of the semiconductor industry and its characteristics, so that the city’s mega-scale semiconductor project can proceed without setbacks.”
