Global 3D IP studio BCOP Entertainment Co., Ltd. announced that it has been selected for the 'Deep Tech Startup Academy' organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The Deep Tech Startup Academy is a program that discovers promising startups with deep-tech startup items in super-gap and new industry fields, supporting their technology commercialization and market entry. Selected companies receive up to 200 million won in commercialization funding and a phased development program.
BCOP Entertainment is a content tech company that has established a production pipeline integrating and shortening the multi-stage process of 3D animation production based on AI. It leverages its video implementation capability, which seamlessly integrates characters and backgrounds, and pursues a global expansion strategy based on original IP as its competitive edge.
Its flagship original IP, 'HybreX', is a character universe developed on the concept of hybridization between humans and other species. The structure allows for a wide range of form expansion, from humanoid to monster-type characters, and is being developed as a commercial IP that can be extended beyond animation to character licensing and merchandise development.
With this selection, the company plans to elevate its internal workflow to the stage of producing fully developed IP packages encompassing both static and dynamic elements. Based on this, it aims to expand its commercial IP through animation, character licensing, and merchandise development.
Traditionally, character settings, images, and video elements have often been produced separately; however, BCOP Entertainment is building a structure that organically connects these within its internal production workflow, creating a seamless path from IP planning and visualization to video production. This approach enables the production of high-quality original IP in a more consistent format, and through this program, the company plans to enhance its execution capabilities for commercializing original IP targeting the global market.
Junkyu Song, CEO of BCOP Entertainment, stated, "The domestic IP industry has primarily remained order-driven or focused on the preschool market due to the burden of production costs, rather than proactively accumulating original projects." He added, "BCOP Entertainment will further strengthen its structure to continuously plan, produce, and expand original IP by reducing production and process burdens through technology."
