The agreement was made in collaboration with the foundation led by Kim Yeon-koung, the "Volleyball Empress" born in Ansan, to change the name of the existing Sangnoksu Gymnasium to "Sangnoksu Kim Yeon-koung Gymnasium" and to promote the development of local sports.
Under the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in the following areas: co-hosting youth volleyball tournaments at the national level, operating youth volleyball development programs and clinics, creating volleyball-related exhibition and commemorative content, and other joint projects to revitalize the gymnasium. Ansan City will provide the facilities and support administration and operations, while the foundation will be responsible for planning tournaments, connecting athlete and coach networks, and running programs.
In addition, to ensure legal stability regarding the name change, a separate contract was signed for the use of the name "Kim Yeon-koung."
Lee Mingun, Mayor of Ansan City, stated, "We expect this agreement to increase the utilization of sports facilities, foster youth volleyball, and strengthen Ansan's brand value as a city known for volleyball."
