A police officer was caught at the scene after falling asleep on the road while driving under the influence of alcohol late at night, following a report from a citizen.


According to Yonhap News Agency on April 20, the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating Officer A, a sergeant from the Daejeon Jungbu Police Station, on suspicion of drunk driving in violation of the Road Traffic Act. Officer A is suspected of driving under the influence on a road in Jung-gu, Daejeon, at around 12:02 a.m. on April 17.

At the time, the police were dispatched after receiving a report from a citizen stating, "The car in front is not moving even though the signal has changed to green." Officer A’s blood alcohol concentration was reportedly 0.098%, which is considered heavily intoxicated and exceeds the license revocation threshold of 0.08%.


As a result, the police have suspended Officer A from duty and plan to impose disciplinary action based on the outcome of the investigation.
