Namwon Chunhyang Festival Fully Prepared as a "Festival for All"

D-10: Major Marketing Campaigns Targeting Seoul Metropolitan and Honam Regions

Encouraging Participation from Millennials, Gen Z, and Families... Smart Promotion Strategies in Action

Namwon City in North Jeolla Province has completed preparations for visitors to fully experience the vibrant excitement of the 96th Chunhyang Festival, which will be held for a week from April 30 to May 6, by implementing comprehensive promotional efforts and innovative infrastructure, and thoroughly reviewing all aspects of the festival from promotional strategies to convenience facilities.

Namwon City has taken the initiative by placing large-scale outdoor advertisements at 18 major high-traffic multi-use facilities, including Yongsan Station and Gangnam Central City in the Seoul metropolitan area, as well as Gwangju U-Square, Jeonju and Mokpo bus terminals, which serve as key gateways to the Honam region. In particular, citizen-focused promotions are being conducted at Gwangju World Cup Lotte Outlet and major university campuses in Jeonju, encouraging participation from Millennials & Gen Z and family tourists.

Smart promotional strategies utilizing online platforms also stand out. Nationwide awareness is being raised through SNS channels such as KakaoTalk, Instagram, and TikTok, as well as Kakao Biz Board advertisements. At the same time, real-time festival information is delivered to vehicles entering Namwon via T-MAP audio advertisements. Focused promotions are being carried out targeting surrounding cities like Gwangju and Jeonju, highlighting the festival's excellent accessibility.

This year’s Chunhyang Festival is designed as a “Festival for All,” ensuring that no one is left out-from infants to the elderly. A record-breaking “mega air bouncer” has been installed in the Family Zone along Yocheon Stream, providing a playground exclusively for children. Drone piloting and AI technology experience booths have also been set up to create an edutainment environment that combines education and fun.

Thorough measures have been implemented to solve the most significant inconvenience for visitors: transportation. A total of 3,148 temporary parking spaces have been secured at 10 locations, including the Comprehensive Sports Town and the Yocheon Stream area, and four shuttle bus routes will connect Namwon Station and other major hubs. In particular, on weekends and public holidays, shuttle intervals have been shortened to under 20 minutes to maximize convenience for users.

Convenience for campers has also been enhanced. Temporary car camping sites for 223 vehicles have been set up at three locations, including Hampau Sound Experience Center. A “real-time reservation program” has been introduced, allowing users to check available spaces and make reservations in advance via smartphone, reducing the hassle of waiting on-site.

The festival program offers a captivating seven-day journey under four themes: elegance, spirit, love, and tradition. The 96th Global Chunhyang Selection Contest, following last year’s success, will once again feature participants from around the world-including the United States and Canada-transcending borders of nationality and language to promote the beauty of Korea.

The 1.6km Chunhyang Carnival, with over 6,000 citizens participating, will provide a spectacular visual experience. The “Love Sharing Run” with charity angel Sean will add the value of giving to the festival. The 96-year-old Gugak Competition and the “Rap Pansori Battle,” which reinterprets tradition in the language of Millennials & Gen Z, will present a groundbreaking stage where past and future meet.

The festival’s food offerings have been innovated in collaboration with The Born Korea (led by CEO Baek Jongwon). High-quality menus using Namwon’s local specialties will be served at reasonable prices, aiming to eradicate the chronic issue of price gouging at regional festivals.

A Namwon City official stated, “This year’s Chunhyang Festival offers both unprecedented accessibility from anywhere in the country and top-notch content. With flawless preparations from promotion to infrastructure, we hope that many visitors will enjoy the charm and flavors of Namwon without any inconvenience.”
