According to HD Construction Machinery on April 20, the company has signed a contract with Grupel, a Portuguese generator manufacturer, to supply 264 units of the 'G2 Engine' for generators. The supplied products are small engines with capacities of 1.8L, 2.4L, and 3.4L, intended to meet the rising demand for mobile generators in Europe.

This contract is attributed to the increased demand for replacing aging equipment, driven by strengthened exhaust emission regulations in Europe. The European generator market for small engines is estimated at around 105,000 units per year.

The G2 Engine meets Europe's Stage V exhaust emission regulations and features an 1800-bar high-pressure fuel injection system and fuel efficiency improvement technology, which enhance its performance. The engine is also optimized for industrial equipment such as generators through improved durability and ease of maintenance.

HD Construction Machinery is currently expanding its presence in the European market, selling over 2,000 units of the G2 Engine annually. Over the past 10 years, the company has supplied more than 500,000 units to global markets including North America and Europe, ensuring its reliability.

With this supply contract, the company also plans to expand its sales channels in the industrial engine market for generators by pursuing additional supplies of medium-sized engines such as the DX05 (5L class) and DX08 (7.5L class).

The company aims to increase its European generator engine sales from the current approximately 40 billion won to about 67 billion won by 2030. Total generator engine sales are also planned to more than double from 370 billion won in 2025 to approximately 770 billion won over the same period.

According to market research firm Mordor Intelligence, the European diesel generator market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 4.18%, expanding from 3.87 billion dollars in 2026 to 4.74 billion dollars by 2031.

An HD Construction Machinery representative stated, "This order reaffirms the competitiveness of the G2 Engine in the European market, where exhaust regulations are tightening. We will continue to expand our customer base across various industries, including the generator market."
