Gangwon Province Wins Grand Prize at the "2026 Korea Representative Festival Expo"

The province once again proved its status as the tourism capital of Korea by winning an award at this expo, following its grand prize at the "Naenara Travel Expo" in March.

The "2026 Korea Representative Festival Expo" was held at Suwon Convention Center from April 17 to 19, featuring 105 organizations and companies operating a total of 243 booths.

The province operated a promotional booth under the theme "Visit Gangwon, Enjoy Festivals, Receive Benefits! 'Spring Days in Gangwon'," focusing on festival- and benefit-centered promotions linked to the spring travel season.

In particular, the province aimed to sustain interest in the film "The King and the Man Who Lives" through promotional activities for the Danjong Cultural Festival in April. The province also put a spotlight on representative local festivals, such as the Samcheok Rose Festival and the Chuncheong Yanggu Gomchwi Festival in May, while focusing on raising awareness through various participatory events.

Lee Donghee, Director of Tourism at Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, stated, "Gangwon offers a wide range of festivals throughout all four seasons. We will continue to discover and promote distinctive festivals to establish Gangwon as Korea's leading festival destination."
