Commuting Congestion and Citizen Inconveniences Expected to Be Resolved

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan), announced that with the resumption of normal operations of the Seohae Line subway trains starting on the 20th, the commuting environment for citizens, who have faced inconveniences due to reduced train services, is expected to greatly improve.

According to the city on the 20th, the Seohae Line had operated under reduced service and slower speeds on certain sections since October last year, following operational disruptions caused by defects in the subway train's intermediate couplers. In particular, the reduction in the number of trains between Ilsan and Daegok had resulted in prolonged inconveniences for citizens.

In response, the city has continuously requested Korea Railroad Corporation and other relevant agencies to restore normal operations as soon as possible, and has actively worked to resolve citizen inconveniences.

With this normalization measure, the number of daily train operations between Ilsan and Daegok will be restored from 14 to 62, and the travel time between Daegok and Choji will be shortened by about 7 minutes, from the previous 58 minutes to 51 minutes, thereby improving overall user conditions.

Additionally, with the normalization of train operations, the intervals between trains will be maintained more consistently, which is expected to alleviate congestion during commuting hours.

The city plans to continuously monitor train usage and congestion levels in the future, and, in consultation with relevant agencies, will request further improvements if additional issues for citizens arise.

An official from Goyang City stated, "With the resumption of normal operations on the Seohae Line, citizens' transportation inconveniences are expected to be resolved," adding, "We will continue to prioritize citizen safety and convenience, and will work closely with relevant agencies to improve railway services."
