Iksan City in North Jeolla Province is taking steps to both reduce the financial burden on small-scale businesses and strengthen its air quality management system. On this day, the city announced that it will be accepting applications for the 'IoT Measurement Device Installation Support Project' from now until May 22.
The support is targeted at emission and prevention facilities of Class 4 and 5 air pollutant-emitting businesses that qualify as small and medium enterprises. The city will subsidize up to 60% of the installation costs, with a maximum support of KRW 4.8 million. Applications can be submitted in person at the Environmental Management Division or by mail.
This project is being promoted in advance of the mandatory installation of IoT-based measurement devices set to take effect in December. The goal is to ease the preparation burden on small businesses and facilitate a smooth transition to the new system. IoT measurement devices allow for real-time monitoring of the operation status of emission and prevention facilities, helping to prevent air pollution and environmental accidents.
According to the 'Air Quality Conservation Act,' Class 4 and 5 businesses are required to install the relevant equipment by December 31. Failure to comply will result in sanctions in accordance with the law.
An Iksan City official stated, "This measure aims to reduce the initial burden of the new system while improving the effectiveness of environmental management," adding, "As the compliance deadline is clear, active participation from eligible businesses is required."
