Seongju County Anticipates Revitalization of Culture and the Arts

Seongju County in North Gyeongsang Province announced that it achieved the additional selection of one more project in the performing arts sector for the first half of 2026. This comes after already being chosen for two public contest projects in the first half of the year, and with this new selection, the county has secured an additional 150 million won in national funding.

The newly selected project is a regional content distribution support initiative aimed at narrowing cultural consumption gaps between regions and expanding opportunities for local residents to enjoy culture. Through various genres of performances, the county plans to provide residents with high-quality cultural content.

In particular, Seongju County is reported to have received high marks during the evaluation process due to its stable operation of previous projects and creative planning capabilities. As a result, the county expects not only the continued development of local performing arts, but also a significant contribution to expanding the creative foundation for artists.

Each of the selected projects will be implemented sequentially starting in the second half of the year, with a total of eight programs-including musicals, operas, and plays-slated to take place primarily at the county's arts center.

A Seongju County official stated, "By securing three public contest projects with a total budget of 340 million won, we have established a solid foundation to systematically promote a variety of cultural and artistic initiatives," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to contribute to the development of local culture and the arts in the future."
