From April 16 to 17, CEO Kim visited GS Engineering & Construction sites in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province, where he inspected safety conditions and spent time communicating with workers. Previously, at the regular general shareholders' meeting held last month, GS Engineering & Construction appointed CEO Kim as the representative director in charge of safety, transitioning to a dual representative director system with Yoonhong Heo and Taejin Kim each serving independently.
Furthermore, on April 1, GS Engineering & Construction reorganized the CSSO’s division into two distinct units: one responsible for safety strategy, and another for supporting operational safety at sites, thereby enhancing specialization. By reinforcing its safety strategy, the company aims to simultaneously strengthen both the direction and execution of its mid- to long-term safety management.
In addition, the company plans to objectively assess its overall safety level by conducting regular safety and health consulting with external professional organizations and to implement improvement tasks identified through this process in a phased manner. GS Engineering & Construction will also renovate its 'Safety Innovation School' located in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province, and expand both specialized safety training by job role and experiential education programs to enhance safety awareness and response capabilities at its sites.
The safety management system will also be reinforced. The company will strengthen the review of general and technical safety matters from the early stages of construction, and subsequently expand periodic internal audits and inspections to reduce safety level discrepancies across sites. Through these efforts, GS Engineering & Construction aims to raise the overall standard of safety at its construction sites. The company will also provide consulting support for safety diagnostics to its partner companies.
A GS Engineering & Construction official stated, "Safety is not merely a management item but a core competitive edge directly tied to a company's sustainability," adding, "Through systematic safety management encompassing organization, systems, and execution, we will strive to enhance corporate value."
Meanwhile, GS Engineering & Construction announced that the 'Safety Inspection Day' event, attended by all executives since 2024, has entered its third year. On 'Safety Inspection Day,' which takes place during the first week of each month, the CEO and executives from all business divisions visit all domestic sites to conduct inspections and, when necessary, provide specialized support by field.
