The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) announced on the 20th that it held the '1st Internal Control Committee of 2026' at its headquarters in Jinju, Gyeongnam.
KOSME’s Internal Control Committee, established in 2024, was created to proactively manage various risks that may arise during business operations, rather than relying solely on external regulations or post-audits. The committee consists of a total of 10 members, including Chairman Sukkyoon Kang, Vice Chairman Lee Byungcheol, key department heads, and external experts on internal control.
This meeting was held to establish the '2026 KOSME Internal Control Promotion Plan,' aiming to enhance public trust by fostering a voluntary internal control culture. This year’s plan comprehensively reflects government policy directions, KOSME’s management strategies, and the opinions of both internal and external stakeholders.
Under the internal control vision of “KOSME trusted and recognized by the public through integrity and fairness,” KOSME has established five core promotion strategies: ▲Establishing company-wide responsible management ▲Eliminating blind spots in risk management ▲Enhancing transparency in vulnerable work areas ▲Embedding an internal control culture ▲Building a continuous improvement system.
In particular, KOSME plans to introduce the 'Integrity Plus' program, an integrity and internal control mileage system, to provide incentives to employees for their activities in integrity, ethics, and internal control. Through this, the agency aims to foster a proactive and voluntary internal control culture and utilize the program in both departmental evaluations and individual rewards.
KOSME also conducted a survey among internal staff to gauge preferences for parallel terminology relating to internal control. As a result, the agency plans to use 'My Check' and 'Double Check,' which were identified as best practices, as parallel terms to improve acceptance of internal control initiatives.
Chairman Sukkyoon Kang stated, "Internal control is a key element for proactive risk management in public institutions," and added, "KOSME will establish a sustainable internal control system by fostering a voluntary internal control culture, and become an organization that is even more trusted by the public."
