Nowon District to Host 'Nowon Magic Land' on May 2-3

Large Amusement Rides Operate at Junggye Culture Park

Nowon District in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) will host the Children's Day festival "Nowon Magic Land - Adventure Park" over two days on May 2 and 3.

The festival will take place at two locations-Deungnamu Culture Park and Junggye Culture Park in Junggye-dong-from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Previously, the event was held by closing off the seven-lane Nohae-ro in front of Lotte Department Store, but since last year, the venue has been moved to the parks. Positive feedback from parents about the nature-friendly atmosphere led to the extension of the event to two days this year.

The main highlight is the amusement park set up at Junggye Culture Park. Seven large rides-including Tagadisco, mini Viking, Euro Bungee, Flight, spinning swing, carousel, and mini train-will be in operation, offering a theme park-level experience.

An outdoor library for families will also be set up in the Junggye Culture Park area. Activities such as book curation and a book lounge utilizing the park’s green space will be available, along with balloon, ventriloquism, and violin performances.

Diverse stage performances will be presented at Deungnamu Culture Park. Starting with a pre-show "Illusion Magic Show" at 10:30 a.m. on May 2, sing-along shows featuring popular characters such as "Bread Barbershop," "Nini Kids," and "Rainbow Bubble Gem" will follow. There will also be performances by professional teams, including balloon shows, circus acts, and mime.

A wide range of hands-on programs is also planned. The "Character Zone" will offer face painting, air bounce, baseball games, and a block playground. The "Experience Booths" will feature a total of 12 programs, including firefighter and police officer job experiences, a fairy tale mini-market, and an "Eagle-Eagle Sun Gazing" activity. All rides and experience programs are priced at 3,000 won or less to keep them affordable.

The green corridor connecting Junggye Culture Park and Deungnamu Culture Park will feature a "Jungle Exploration Adventure" theme. Photo zones and experiential elements with a jungle concept will be arranged along the route, allowing visitors to enjoy the journey between the parks as an adventure.

Thorough safety management will also be ensured. During the festival, 500 safety and operations personnel will be deployed to inspect the safety of the rides and maintain order at the site. A mobile disaster response headquarters, ambulance, and medical staff will also be on standby.

To protect the environment, food trucks will use eco-friendly containers. Nursing rooms will be installed, and restrooms at nearby affiliated facilities will be opened to provide a comfortable environment.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, stated, "We have prepared an amusement park so that children can laugh and enjoy themselves to the fullest at a park near home, without having to travel far," adding, "I hope this festival becomes an opportunity to spark imagination in children and create valuable memories for families."
