On the 17th, the Nam June Paik Art Center and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at expanding contemporary art discourse and creating a sustainable creative ecosystem, as announced on the 20th. This agreement focuses on building a cooperative framework encompassing joint production, distribution, and discourse formation between the art museum and the performing arts venue.

Through this agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on several initiatives: joint productions to expand contemporary art and explore new forms of creation, discovering emerging artists and fostering a creative ecosystem, establishing joint programming, production, and operational systems based in Seoul and Gyeonggi, as well as expanding joint marketing, audience development, and domestic and international distribution.

The first joint project is "Waiting for the Total Eclipse" by Eumion. This work will be featured both as an official program of the "2026 Nam June Paik Media Art Festival" at the Nam June Paik Art Center and in the Sejong Center's contemporary season "Sync Next 26." Each institution plans to adapt and present the work in line with the characteristics and institutional context of their respective venues.

To date, the Nam June Paik Art Center has expanded the role of the museum through programs that encompass media art, performance, and technology-based creation. With this agreement, the center intends to accelerate the establishment of a joint production platform by broadening its engagement with the performing arts sector.

Park Namhee, Director of the Nam June Paik Art Center, stated, "The Nam June Paik Art Center has sought to serve as a platform that transcends the boundaries of museums, connecting diverse artistic forms and practices. Through our collaboration with the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, we aim to experiment with new production methods and distribution structures in contemporary art and to jointly build a more expansive art ecosystem."

Ahn Hosang, President of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, said, "This agreement marks the starting point for wide-area cultural cooperation connecting Seoul and Gyeonggi. We hope that the joint production model developed by our two institutions will suggest new possibilities for the domestic performing arts ecosystem."
