Trump: "Israel Is a Great Ally"... Critical View Toward Other Allies

U.S. President Donald Trump referenced the possibility of war with Iran, strongly defending Israel while delivering a critical message aimed at other allied nations.

On April 18 (local time), President Trump emphasized on his social media platform, Truth Social, that “Regardless of likes or dislikes, Israel is a great ally of the United States.” He went on to praise Israel as “brave, bold, loyal, and wise,” and added, “Unlike some countries that reveal their true nature in moments of tension and conflict, Israel knows how to fight fiercely and win.”

These remarks are in line with President Trump’s consistent position of criticizing other allied nations, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Previously, President Trump pointed out that NATO provided no substantial assistance during the military standoff with Iran and the issue of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, even mentioning the possibility of withdrawal.

Additionally, immediately after Iran declared the lifting of the strait blockade, he said, “At a point when the situation was nearly resolved, I received inquiries from NATO about whether help was needed,” and criticized, “When we truly needed support, they were of no help at all.”
