Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on April 19 that it has been selected as the top-performing institution in the "2026 Metropolitan Transportation Facility Fee Comprehensive Evaluation" conducted by Gyeonggi Province.
The province divided the 31 municipalities within Gyeonggi into three groups based on their collections, and evaluated each on the management of metropolitan transportation facility fee collection and overdue payments, as well as the level of attention given by agency heads.
Last year, the city collected approximately KRW 12.9 billion in metropolitan transportation facility fees, and was selected as the best-performing municipality in "Group 1," which consists of 10 cities and counties with collections exceeding KRW 2.8 billion.
In particular, Yongin received high marks for systematically managing development projects subject to the fee amid growing development activities, and for operating an on-site inspection system to improve collection rates.
Previously, the city received the Excellence Award in 2022, 2023, and 2025, and the Encouragement Award in 2024, maintaining strong performance in the comprehensive evaluation of metropolitan transportation facility fees every year.
The metropolitan transportation facility fee is a charge imposed on developers of large-scale projects, such as land development and housing construction, to address traffic congestion and expand metropolitan transportation facilities.
An official from Yongin City stated, "This result was achieved through transparent management of the fees and continued attention to improving metropolitan transportation," adding, "We will do our utmost to advance the city's transportation administration through systematic work related to metropolitan transportation facility fees."
