Han Byung-do, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, wrote on Facebook on this day, "I pay deep respect to the noble sacrifices of the pro-democracy martyrs who dedicated themselves to freedom, democracy, and justice," adding, "We will keep the spirit of April 19 in our hearts and further solidify the democracy that the sovereign people have protected."

Park Hae-chul, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, said in a written briefing, "Sixty-six years ago, the torch that began with the March 15 Masan Uprising blazed into the April 19 Revolution, and through the May 18 Democratization Movement and the June Democratic Uprising, the history of popular sovereignty finally began in this land."

He continued, "In the face of the illegal December 3 martial law imposed by insurrectionist Yoon Suk-yeol, our citizens protected the constitutional order without fear. The driving force behind this was the great spirit of April 19."

He also emphasized, "The Lee Jae-myung administration and the Democratic Party of Korea will never forget the noble sacrifices of our ancestors who stood against injustice 66 years ago, as well as the courage of the great citizens who stopped the illegal December 3 martial law."

Finally, he added, "We will thoroughly eliminate the remnants of the insurrectionary forces that trampled on the constitution and the unchecked power of political prosecutors. We will steadfastly complete a democracy that ensures power will never again reign above the people."
