On April 19, Song Eon-seok, floor leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 66th anniversary of the 4·19 Revolution, "The People Power Party is firmly armed with the 4·19 democratic ideals against injustice, as stipulated in the Constitution, and we will resolutely stand with all free and just citizens to fight against the tyranny of unjust power."
Song made this statement on his social networking service (SNS) on this day, saying, "Today marks the 66th anniversary of the 4·19 Revolution. The 4·19 Revolution was a struggle to defend liberal democracy, led by young people and citizens who could not tolerate injustice."
Choi Boyoon, the party's chief spokesperson, also issued a commentary, stating, "The 4·19 Revolution is a great history that demonstrated that power cannot be the private property of any individual. However, the reality we face today is far from what our forebears dreamed of, and for that we feel endless shame." She added, "In particular, legislative tyranny that distorts the will of the people is undermining the very foundation of liberal democracy, which our forebears protected with their blood."
Chief Spokesperson Choi stated, "The People Power Party will once again reflect on the solemn lesson that power comes from the people," and continued, "We will proudly oppose any attempt that threatens the values of freedom, democracy, and justice, and will tirelessly strive for a prosperous Republic of Korea."
