Jeong Woonoh, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Seoul mayor, stated on the 19th, the 66th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution, "The spirit of the 4·19 Revolution was the starting point for ending insurrection and restoring democracy. I will make this spirit the unwavering standard for the governance of Seoul."

원본보기 아이콘On Facebook that day, Jeong said, "Democracy in the Republic of Korea was never given by chance. The outcry of the citizens of Masan against the fraudulent March 15 election and the sacrifice of martyr Kim Juyul awakened the anger of the people, which ultimately led to the 4·19 Revolution."
He further stated, "That spirit did not end with April 19. Through the Buma Uprising, the 5·18 Democratization Movement, the June Struggle, and even on the night of the 12·3 Martial Law, citizens once again protected democracy."
In conclusion, he emphasized, "Together with the citizens, I will continue to safeguard democracy and fulfill my responsibility to the end in creating a fairer and more transparent Seoul."
