On April 19, BGF Retail announced that its convenience store chain CU has introduced a free delivery service and additional benefits to coincide with the usage period of the "Sanitary Product Voucher Program for Female Adolescents" operated by local governments nationwide.
The sanitary product voucher for female adolescents is a program supported by each local government to reduce the burden of purchasing hygiene products for girls aged 11 to 18. Unlike the National Happiness Card, which is provided based on income criteria, this program is available to adolescents residing in the respective region.
The program is currently being implemented in over 30 regions across the country, including some areas in Seoul (Guro and Seongdong districts) and several cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province. The support amount varies by region, ranging from a maximum of 70,000 won to 168,000 won per year. The usage period is valid until the end of this year.
CU offers a variety of hygiene products, such as sanitary pads and hygiene panties, through participating stores and its own app, Pocket CU. In particular, considering that some customers may have difficulty finding products in-store, a free delivery service has been introduced. Users can check products through the in-store catalog or the app, request stock to their preferred store, make a payment, and have the products delivered to a designated address.
Certain products are available in configurations that reduce the price burden, and rewards are also provided upon purchase. In addition, mobile gift certificate benefits have been added for promotional products, expanding the range of choices for users.
Um Gyolim, Household Goods MD at BGF Retail, stated, "The sanitary product voucher is essential support in daily life, so we focused on enhancing convenience and accessibility. Going forward, CU plans to continue related support by leveraging its nationwide store network and digital channels to improve access to public support services."
