Guro District Creates 40m Stepped Embankment Rest Area Along Anyangcheon

Riverside Rest Area with Wooden Finishes and Linear Lighting
To Be Used as Main Stage Viewing Space for Guro G Festival

Guro District in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Jang Inhong) has created a stepped rest area on the embankment of Anyangcheon and opened it to local residents.

Anyangcheon is a prominent waterfront space that constantly attracts residents looking to enjoy leisure activities such as walking and cycling. However, there have been concerns about the lack of rest facilities where people can stay and appreciate the river scenery. The district office addressed this by utilizing the embankment space to establish the new resting area.

The area is designed as a stepped structure stretching 40 meters in total length, allowing multiple people to sit simultaneously and take in panoramic views of Anyangcheon. Wood was used as the finishing material to harmonize with the surrounding natural landscape. For nighttime use, safety features have been installed, including linear lighting along the steps to ensure pedestrian safety and ground lighting to illuminate nearby trees, enhancing the nighttime scenery.

This space will serve as a riverside rest area in daily life, and during the district's signature annual festival, the 'Guro G Festival,' held at Anyangcheon, it is expected to be used as a viewing area for the main stage.

A district official said, "Anyangcheon is a precious space where residents can experience nature up close within the city." The official added, "We will continue to work on creating a safe and convenient river environment for residents while ensuring flood safety." The district plans to continue renovating aging facilities along Anyangcheon and expanding riverside-friendly spaces in the future.
