The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on April 20 that it will run a national heritage exploration program five times next month in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, which served as the backdrop for the film "The King and the Clown."
Participants will tour Yeongwol's iconic scenic sites, including Cheongryeongpo, where King Danjong was exiled, Seondol, the Korean Peninsula-shaped land formation, and Jangneung, the royal tomb where King Danjong rests, accompanied by expert commentary. The program will be divided into four regular sessions (May 12, 14-15, 19-20, and 26-27) and one special session (May 21-22).
The special session is designated for 40 global national heritage ambassadors, who are foreign government-invited scholarship students. Huh Min, Administrator of the Cultural Heritage Administration, will personally greet them. The regular sessions will depart from major hub cities such as Seoul, Busan, and Gwangju.
Each session will accommodate 30 participants. Accommodation and meal expenses must be covered individually.
