As peace negotiations between the United States and Iran continue, the average price of gasoline in South Korea has surpassed the 2,000 won mark for the first time since the period of the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to Opinet, a petroleum price information system, the nationwide average price of gasoline at gas stations reached 2,000 won per liter on the 17th, up 0.9 won from the previous day.
This is the first time in approximately three years and nine months that gasoline prices have entered the 2,000 won range, since July 2022 when high prices persisted. The price of diesel has also surged to 1,994.2 won, nearing the 2,000 won threshold.
In Seoul, where fuel prices are the highest, the price already surpassed 2,000 won per liter on the 7th and has continued to rise daily, reaching 2,030.6 won per liter as of April 17.
International oil prices remain unstable, with Dubai crude rising to 101.8 dollars per barrel due to uncertainty surrounding the United States-Iran ceasefire negotiations.
