K Shipbuilding Continues Ship Order Rally with Four Vessels Worth 307 Billion Won

K Shipbuilding's flagship vessel type, the petrochemical product carrier, continues to secure orders in both Europe and Asia.

K Shipbuilding announced on April 17 that, following an order for two 50,000-ton class petrochemical product carriers from a European shipping company on April 1, it signed an additional contract on April 14 with an Asian shipping company for two more vessels of the same type.

With these deals, the number of new orders K Shipbuilding has secured in April alone amounts to a total of four vessels, worth 307 billion won.

The vessels ordered this time are designed to meet the Phase 3 standard of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI; Energy Efficiency Design Index), reflecting the International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s strengthened environmental regulations.

They are also designed to allow easy conversion to eco-friendly fuel propulsion systems, such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) or methanol, in response to future market changes.

K Shipbuilding stated that this contract once again demonstrates its technological competitiveness in the medium-sized tanker market.

A K Shipbuilding official commented, "Our continued success in winning orders reflects the strong trust that shipowners have in K Shipbuilding's world-class technology and quality for building medium-sized tankers." The official added, "We will continue to strengthen our market share by focusing on orders for eco-friendly ships, leveraging our differentiated construction capabilities."
