A wildfire broke out on a hillside in Byeongnae-ri, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province, at around 4:44 p.m. on April 17.

The forestry and fire authorities, along with the local government, deployed five helicopters, 76 personnel, and 20 pieces of equipment to contain the blaze.


Immediately after the wildfire occurred, Pyeongchang-gun sent out a safety alert text message to nearby residents, urging them to exercise caution.


The authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage once the blaze is fully extinguished.
