Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province carried out a personnel reshuffle on April 17 following an organizational restructuring. This move aims to efficiently implement national policies such as integrated care and disaster safety, as well as to address local issues.
The main features of the restructuring include revising the names of bureaus and divisions to align with national policy priorities and the nomenclature system of central government ministries, establishing dedicated teams, and increasing the authorized staffing level by 70 people-from 1,276 to 1,346-to meet rapidly growing administrative demands.
Key changes include renaming the Social Welfare Bureau to the “Care and Welfare Bureau” to strengthen the foundation for integrated care initiatives.
At the division level, the Social Economy Division has been renamed the “Social Solidarity Economy Division,” the Welfare Policy Division to the “Integrated Care Division,” and the Women and Family Division to the “Gender Equality and Family Division,” thereby clarifying the policy direction.
Additionally, to systematically implement the integrated care policy, the city established a “Care Planning Team,” and to proactively manage underground safety, a “Underground Safety Management Team” was newly created.
Furthermore, personnel were increased by a total of 70 to enhance administrative responsiveness for the implementation of national policy projects and local priority initiatives, including integrated care, the operation of home medical centers, support for urban redevelopment, labor rights protection, and land transaction permit work.
Choi Hae-min, Acting Mayor (Vice Mayor) of Gwangmyeong City, stated, “This restructuring is a measure to enhance alignment with national policies and actively respond to municipal issues. We will work to accelerate policy implementation and improve completeness, aiming for administrative changes that citizens can truly feel.”
