S-Energy has secured the qualifications necessary to participate in government-led core renewable energy projects. On April 17, the company announced that it has officially registered as a Renewable Energy Service Company (ReSCO) after passing the review process for the “Renewable Energy Service Company (ReSCO)” program, overseen by the Korea Energy Agency.
This ReSCO registration was achieved through verification of key evaluation items such as corporate creditworthiness, construction track record, and specialized technical personnel. Through this process, S-Energy has proven its capabilities as a “total energy solution” provider, demonstrating comprehensive business execution abilities from project planning and design to construction, financial linkage, and operations & maintenance (O&M).
ReSCO registration forms the basis for participating in the “Solar Income Village” project, which is being expanded at the pan-governmental level. This project is a key national initiative aimed at revitalizing rural economies and achieving carbon neutrality for the country. According to the “Plan for Nationwide Expansion of Solar Income Villages,” the project will be expanded in the medium to long term. In particular, the government aims to select more than 500 sites by 2026, with each village constructing a solar power plant with a capacity ranging from approximately 300kW to 1MW.
Because this project is led by local residents, the role of specialized companies capable of overseeing the entire process-from permits and design to construction, financial structuring, and long-term maintenance-is crucial. S-Energy is recognized as a company equipped with the comprehensive capabilities to meet these demands.
Government policy direction is also strengthening S-Energy’s competitiveness. The importance of companies with stable supply chains and quality management systems is rising as requirements for mandatory use of low-carbon solar modules (655kgCO2/kW or less), adoption of KS-certified equipment, and enhanced industrial contribution evaluation criteria become more stringent. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, S-Energy explains that, as the nation's first-generation solar module manufacturer and EPC partner, it fulfills these conditions.
Additionally, the policy supporting “ESS installation in areas with insufficient grid infrastructure” is expected to offer new opportunities for S-Energy. The company is securing competitiveness in this sector as well, leveraging its microgrid design capabilities.
A representative from S-Energy stated, “This ReSCO registration is official recognition of our expertise and business execution capability by a national institution,” adding, “Based on the infrastructure we have built so far, we will play an active role in the Solar Income Village market, which is set to expand in earnest in the future.”
