Seogu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City will officially launch its "Reading Together" program based on the "Good Reading Method" starting in May, aiming to lower the entry barriers to reading for residents.
The "Good Reading Method" is Seogu's unique customized reading program that analyzes each individual's reading tendencies and provides step-by-step guidance, from book selection and the reading process to post-reading activities. It goes beyond simply recommending books by offering concrete reading methods, with the goal of making it easy for anyone to start reading.
This "Reading Together" program is structured so that participants read themed books together and share their opinions, all based on the Good Reading Method. In particular, it is designed to reduce the burden of reading by allowing participants to tackle challenging books together and to increase interest in book club activities.
The program will feature four different themes. These include "Reading Brick Books Together," where participants read books that are difficult to finish, such as "Sapiens" or "Cosmos," and "Reading Youth Books Together," which reinterprets young adult literature from an adult perspective. There will also be "Reading Korean Literature Together," which promotes social discourse through contemporary Korean novels, and "Reading Overseas Classics Together," which explores works by classic writers such as Tolstoy.
Any local resident interested in book clubs may participate, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Seogu Integrated Library website starting from the 17th.
