Kim Heungjong, former President of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, has been appointed as the new Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Ambassador Kim has ties with President Lee Jaemyung, having served as a member of the National Economic Advisory Council when President Lee was the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

원본보기 아이콘The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 17th that it has newly appointed Im Baejin, former Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Korea in Israel, as Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, and Choi Byungseon, Minister at the Embassy of Korea in Egypt, as Ambassador to Bahrain.
Ambassador Kim has held various positions, including President of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, advisory committee member for the Korea-EU FTA negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, policy advisory committee member at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, visiting senior research fellow at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, President of the Korean Association of EU Studies, President of the Korean Association of APEC Studies, and Distinguished Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at Korea University.
Ambassador Kim has a longstanding relationship with President Lee. He served as a member of the National Economic Advisory Council when President Lee was the leader of the Democratic Party. During the last presidential election, he also served as Chair of the Special Committee on Global Economic Strategy within the Democratic Party’s election campaign committee. Additionally, he contributed to the book "Jalsanism, Inclusive Innovation Growth," which was published by President Lee and nine other economic experts.
