Gyeongju City is implementing a multifaceted administrative approach to protect the safety and health of its citizens, including training for two-wheeled delivery workers, radioactive contamination testing of seafood, and customized strength training programs.
On April 14 and 15, Gyeongju City held a safety driving education session for about 80 two-wheeled delivery workers using an online platform at the Gyeongju Youth Center.

In particular, participants who complete the training receive a subsidy of 100,000 won toward the purchase of safety equipment, helping to foster a safer work environment.
Radioactivity analysis was also conducted to ensure the safety of food consumed by citizens.
For the first quarter of 2026, Gyeongju City inspected 16 types of seafood distributed locally and drinking water from six water purification plants. All results were within the standard limits or showed no detectable contamination, confirming safety.
The seafood analysis was commissioned to the Radiation Science Research Institute at Pukyong National University, and the tritium analysis of the water purification plants was carried out in cooperation with an environmental monitoring organization, focusing on alleviating public concerns.
In addition, the city is actively running the “530 Health+” program to improve citizens’ physical fitness.
This initiative encourages practicing strength training for 30 minutes a day, five days a week, and is tailored to each age group.
For citizens in their 20s to 50s, exercise classes are provided at public health centers, while seniors in their 60s and 70s can receive remote exercise instruction using video systems in smart community centers.
The city plans to analyze the results of this pilot operation and further expand health promotion projects using smart technology in the future.
