From April 10 to 12, the university held the academic conference at the Daeyang AI Center on campus, focusing on the latest research achievements and future directions in the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and visual media technologies.

This event was co-hosted by Sejong University and Tsinghua University, with cooperation from the Korea Computer Graphics Society and the Asia Graphics Association.

Notably, this was the first time a CVM event was held in Korea, and it gained further significance as an academic exchange platform with over 210 researchers from eight countries around the world participating.

At the opening ceremony, Su-mi Choi, Professor at Sejong University and Co-Chair of the conference, and Carol O'Sullivan, Professor at Trinity College Dublin, delivered the opening addresses. This was followed by a welcoming speech from President Jonghwa Um and an overview of the conference.

Next, Professor Xumin Hou of Tsinghua University presented the CVMJ Outstanding Paper Awards, further enhancing the prestige of the event.

The academic program was managed by Oh-Young Song, Professor at Sejong University, and Richard Zhang, Professor at Simon Fraser University, who served as joint program chairs.

A total of 290 papers were submitted to the conference, and after a rigorous review process, 26 papers were selected for publication in prestigious international journals such as IEEE TVCG, JCST, and CVMJ.

Additionally, 62 papers were included in the Springer LNCS proceedings, further demonstrating the conference's academic value.

The keynote speeches also attracted attention, with world-renowned scholars participating. Notably, Markus Gross, a professor at ETH Zurich and Chief Scientist at Walt Disney Studios who has won two Academy Awards, BeiBei Wang, Professor at Nanjing University, and Seunghwan Baek, Professor at POSTECH, delivered lectures presenting the latest research in visual computing and its potential industrial applications.

During the conference, participants engaged in keynote lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, and exhibition programs, conducting in-depth discussions on the evolution and application potential of AI-based visual media technologies.

Su-mi Choi, Co-Chair of the conference, stated, "CVM 2026 marks the first time an international academic conference of this scale has been held in Korea, serving as an important opportunity to expand collaboration and exchange among global researchers. We hope this will further stimulate international joint research and academic networking."
