The Democratic Party of Korea announced on April 17 that it has recruited lawyer Jeon Taejin (age 55, 43rd class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute) as its first talent for the upcoming June 3 local elections. Jeon is widely expected to run in the by-election for the Ulsan Namgu-gap National Assembly seat.
Born in Ulsan in 1971, Jeon graduated from Daehyeon Elementary School, Taehwa Middle School, and Hakseong High School in Ulsan, as well as majoring in political science at Seoul National University. After passing the bar exam, he worked as a lawyer for over 20 years, providing counsel to government and public institutions such as the Office of the President, the Korea Communications Commission, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Police Agency, and the Cultural Heritage Administration, thereby gaining extensive experience in policy and administration.

Continuing in their footsteps and being here today makes me think, as the title of President Moon's book suggests, 'Isn't this all fate?'"
He continued, "Ulsan now needs an industrial restructuring and urban regeneration remodeling that fits the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence (AI). I will serve as a bridge connecting the central government and Ulsan."
Jung Chung-rae, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said at the talent recruitment ceremony held at the National Assembly, "Just as lawyer Jeon said, perhaps this really is all fate. But there is an even greater destiny ahead. The true destiny is waiting, where he will work together with President Lee Jae-myung."
