Cheongsando in Wando: "Walk Slowly by Day, Count Stars by Night"

Nighttime Programs Highlight the "Slow Walking Festival":

"Moonlight Night Walk" on the Seopyeonje Trail

and "Star-Gazing Night Tour on Cheongsando" Under the Milky Way

Cheongsando Island in Wando County, South Jeolla Province, is transforming into a "stay-type tourist destination," moving beyond the spring flower spectacle to highlight starlight pouring down over the night sky.

Specialized night programs newly introduced at the "Cheongsando Slow Walking Festival," which runs until April 30, are attracting tourists to stay on the island deep into the night and are receiving an enthusiastic response.

The signature program that maximizes the geographical advantage of Cheongsando Island-its minimal artificial light pollution-is the "Moonlight Night Walk." During the festival, this takes place every Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the area where the film "Seopyeonje" was shot.

Participants can enjoy an immersive healing experience in pristine nature, accompanied by in-depth commentary from a cultural tourism guide and the gentle moonlight and tranquil sound of waves in the background. This program is offered free of charge, with no participation fee.

The "Star-Gazing Night Tour on Cheongsando," where visitors can capture the Milky Way through their camera lenses in the middle of the night, is also drawing the attention of tourists. This unique tour, running until April 26, is held from 1:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m., when the island is at its quietest.

With the clear night sky and the Milky Way as a backdrop, this emotional photo tour provides unforgettable memories not only for photographers who visit the island to observe the stars, but also for general tourists. The participation fee for this program is 20,000 won. To join these night programs, visitors must add the "Cheongsando Travel" KakaoTalk channel and make a reservation in advance. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, so early registration is recommended.

An official from Wando County stated, "We are strengthening the slow walking festival not as an event to enjoy only during the day, but as a stay-type content that can be enjoyed into the night," adding, "We hope visitors will discover another charm of Cheongsando through these night programs."

Meanwhile, Wando County is pursuing a range of tourism policies, including the "Wando Healing Pay," which supports up to 100,000 won in travel expenses, to attract stay-type tourists and revitalize the local economy. As Cheongsando reaches the peak of spring, its intensive day-and-night tourism content is bringing new vitality to the local tourism industry.
