T'way Air Expands International Transfer Services from Daegu to Jeju Airport

Expanding "Regional Airport Transfer" Services

T'way Air announced on April 17 that it is accelerating its "transfer network strategy" to transform regional airports into global hubs by launching international transfer services at Jeju International Airport, following Daegu International Airport.

T'way Air became the first domestic airline to offer international transfer services at Daegu International Airport on April 7, 2025. In just one year of operation, the airline recorded a cumulative total of approximately 4,000 transfer passengers. Notably, in March alone, the number of monthly transfer passengers at Daegu International Airport surpassed 1,000, demonstrating a sharp upward trend.

With Daegu International Airport as its base, T'way Air has seen rapid growth in transfer demand connecting key cities such as Taipei (Taoyuan), Osaka, and Narita (Tokyo). The introduction of transfer services has not only eliminated the hassle of re-check-in for passengers but also provided an optimal transfer option for foreign travelers who previously faced complicated entry procedures due to visa requirements. The airline has thus achieved tangible results in generating new demand and broadening its customer base, while also securing future growth potential.

Building on its successful establishment at Daegu International Airport, T'way Air officially launched transit services at Jeju International Airport on April 1. This is particularly meaningful as T'way Air has revived the transfer hub function at Jeju International Airport, which had been virtually suspended after being temporarily operated by a few airlines in the past.

Currently, T'way Air operates routes such as Singapore-Jeju-Fukuoka and has established itself as the only airline providing international transfer services within Jeju International Airport.

Jeju, in particular, has a unique regional feature-the "visa-free entry system" that allows foreign nationals to stay for a certain period without the need for complex visa issuance procedures. While this is a convenient benefit for foreign tourists, it requires even more meticulous immigration control from an airport operations perspective.

To address this, T'way Air has made transfer passenger safety and security its top priority, establishing an "immediate notification system" that meticulously analyzes Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) data and passenger manifests (SMAN) before aircraft arrival and shares them in real time with relevant authorities such as the immigration office. Through this proactive system, the airline aims to block security risks in advance. T'way Air also plans to further advance its dedicated manuals and response systems in line with the stabilization of its transfer services.

A T'way Air representative stated, "Through our transfer services, we will continue to lead efforts to enhance convenience for foreign passengers and vitalize regional airports. In addition, we will prioritize safe operations and do our utmost to improve the quality of service for our passengers."
