Gyeonggi Provincial Police Commission Invites Applications for Regional Theme-Based Crime Prevention Environmental Improvement Project

The Gyeonggi Provincial Police Commission is working to improve the walking environment for residents by focusing on areas with a high concentration of single-person households, vacant homes, densely populated zones, perimeter trails, and protected educational zones around schools.

The provincial police commission announced on April 17 that it will accept applications until the 30th for its Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) project, titled the "Regional Theme-Based Crime Prevention Environmental Improvement Project." The initiative aims to address local public safety issues such as burglary prevention and nighttime safety by renovating crime-prone areas in line with the specific needs of each region.

In particular, this year’s budget has been increased by 200 million won from last year, totaling 700 million won.

The commission plans to give additional points to local police stations where municipal budget matching has been secured, in order to strengthen security infrastructure and enhance post-project management. Depending on the nature of each project, selected police stations may receive up to 200 million won in project funding, and the environmental improvement period will continue through October.

Kim Jungyeon, Secretary General of the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Commission, stated, "Since each region has different public safety needs, we are carefully reviewing urgent areas through on-site inspections," adding, "We will strengthen cooperation with local governments to enhance the sense of safety felt by residents."
