The Democratic Party of Korea has confirmed Cho Sangho, former Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Sejong City, as its candidate for Sejong Mayor in the June 3 local elections.
Hong Ki-won, Deputy Chairperson of the Central Party Election Commission, announced the results of the Sejong mayoral candidate run-off at the party headquarters in Yeouido on April 16, 2026.
Cho was selected as the final candidate after defeating former Sejong Mayor Lee Choonhee in a run-off vote held over three days starting April 14. However, in accordance with party rules, the vote percentages for each candidate were not disclosed.
Cho served as Sejong City's Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs from 2019 to 2021 during Lee Choonhee's term as mayor. Last year, he also worked as a member of the National Policy Planning Committee under the Lee Jaemyung administration.
In the general election, Cho will compete against Choi Minho, the incumbent mayor of Sejong City from the People Power Party.
