Vice Chairman Kim graduated from Jinheung High School in Gwangju and majored in Journalism and Broadcasting at Korea University. He joined CBS in 1988 and held various key positions, including Head of the Social Affairs Desk, Head of the Political Desk, Washington Correspondent, and News Director. From 2021 to last year, he served as CEO of CBS.
Notably, since his time as a journalist, he has shown continuous interest in addressing the population crisis, directly leading birthrate campaigns and population forums. During his tenure as CEO, CBS played a leading role in making population issues a key topic of public debate by organizing population forums hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
This appointment also coincides with the government's plan to upgrade the committee-tentatively named the "Population Strategy Committee"-and expand it into a powerful control tower overseeing the entirety of population policy. As a result, attention is focused on whether Vice Chairman Kim's communication skills and ability to shape public opinion, honed through his media career, will become a driving force in advancing these policies.
