According to the legal community on April 16, Prosecutor Lee Jooyong was hospitalized after making an extreme attempt following his selection as a witness for the "National Assembly Special Investigation into Alleged Fabricated Political Prosecutions under the Yoon Seok-yeol Administration" and being notified to appear on April 10.

On April 13, Prosecutor Lee submitted a written statement of absence to the special committee, explaining that he was physically unable to attend because he had been hospitalized for inpatient treatment after undergoing a kidney removal surgery last month.

The special committee issued a warrant to compel his appearance after Prosecutor Lee failed to attend.

From 2022 to early 2023, Prosecutor Lee was part of the second investigation team at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office investigating Nam Wook and others in the Daejang-dong case.

Previously, on September 16, 2022, after being questioned by prosecutors, Nam Wook claimed that he was unable to return to the Seoul Detention Center and ended up sleeping on the bare floor of the detention cell in the basement of the prosecution building for two nights and three days. The duty log of the Seoul Detention Center at that time shows that Prosecutor Lee requested that Nam Wook be held in the prosecution's detention cell.

Nam Wook had previously given statements in court unfavorable to President Lee Jaemyung, but in November last year, he reversed his position, saying, "I made statements in line with the prosecutor's investigative direction because I could not withstand the pressure."
