The Sacheon City Public Health Center in South Gyeongsang Province has received a great response for its "Mobile Free Medical Checkup" program, which was launched to improve local residents' health and address medical blind spots.
On April 16, the Public Health Center announced that it had conducted the "2026 Masan Medical Center Doctor Bus Free Checkup Program" at the Sacheon-eup Health Branch.
This initiative is a mobile medical service in which professors from Gyeongsang National University Hospital and medical staff from Masan Medical Center jointly visit medically underserved areas. The program was designed to provide residents with opportunities for professional consultations and checkups.
The checkups focused on three specialties: ▲Ophthalmology (vision, cataract, and intraocular pressure tests), ▲Otolaryngology (hearing and tympanic membrane movement tests), and ▲Urology (prostate ultrasound and voiding dysfunction tests).
Approximately 100 local residents participated on site, demonstrating high interest. The program was evaluated as being of practical help to the elderly and medically vulnerable groups who typically have difficulties accessing hospitals.
If any abnormal findings were detected during the checkups, individual notifications were provided through Masan Medical Center. Sacheon City Public Health Center also plans to offer systematic follow-up services for the participants, including hospital referrals and information on health promotion programs.
An official from the Public Health Center stated, "Through the operation of the Doctor Bus, residents were able to receive free medical checkups and professional consultations, which greatly contributed to the early detection and prevention of diseases." The official added, "We will continue to expand various health support programs so that citizens can consistently access high-quality medical services."
