The Forestry and Greenery Division of Hamyang County in Gyeongnam Province visited the Gyeongnam Provincial Government to discuss work cooperation for securing national and provincial funds for the forestry sector in 2027 and to promote major ongoing projects.
The county announced that on April 16, it visited relevant departments within Gyeongnam Province to explain the necessity of new projects in the forest recreation sector and urgent projects in forest management, and requested active support at the provincial level.
The main projects proposed this time include: ▲ Creation of the Yongchu Natural Recreation Forest Auto Camping Site Project (2 billion won), ▲ Creation of the Forestry Dream Village Project (2.6 billion won), ▲ Creation of a Mountain Tourism Belt Utilizing Forest Roads Project (2.5 billion won), totaling 7.1 billion won.
The "Yongchu Natural Recreation Forest Auto Camping Site Project" aims to respond to increasing demand for stay-type tourism by enhancing accommodation and recreational functions within a natural setting.
The "Forestry Dream Village Project" is intended to establish stay-type infrastructure for prospective forestry workers and those returning to mountain villages, and is expected to contribute to stable settlement and revitalization of the forestry sector.
In particular, the "Creation of a Mountain Tourism Belt Utilizing Forest Roads Project" is designed to connect and expand the existing forest road network to develop new tourism content that combines mountain sports and forest tourism. It is being highlighted as a key project to increase the utilization of local forest resources.
The head of Hamyang County's Forestry and Greenery Division stated, "Since these are key projects to expand stay-type tourism based on forest resources and to strengthen the forestry foundation, we strongly requested that the budget be reflected."
The relevant departments of Gyeongnam Province positively evaluated these projects and expressed their intention to review them, while also emphasizing that securing priority for these projects during the budget allocation process would be important.
In addition, Hamyang County also requested support for the pine wilt disease control project budget and improvements to the wildfire assessment criteria.
A representative from Hamyang County's Forestry and Greenery Division commented, "Through this visit to Gyeongnam Province, we were able to build consensus on major forestry projects. We will continue to work to secure national and provincial funding and do our utmost to revitalize the local area by utilizing forest resources."
