Goryeong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that on April 14, Korean and Japanese agricultural experts and global distribution officials visited the county to review the high-quality seed garlic production system-regarded as the best in Korea-and to explore overseas market opportunities, including in Japan.
Prior to the field visit, a meeting was held at 11 a.m. in the county governor’s office, where Goryeong-gun and domestic and international agricultural experts discussed practical business cooperation strategies from various perspectives.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Japan, including Sohn Euncheol, CEO of TSK Co., Ltd., a global agricultural distribution company, and Kenji Hashimoto, CEO of Cool Earth, which pursues a carbon-neutral agriculture model. Korean participants included Jo Kyunghwan, head of the NJ Bio Plant Research Institute at Hanshin University, and Choi Byungyeol, CEO of Haechandre Agricultural Corporation, among other domestic experts.
During the meeting, attendees shared opinions on concrete cooperation agendas to strengthen the export competitiveness of Goryeong garlic.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the garlic field operated by Choi Byungyeol, CEO of Haechandre Agricultural Corporation, located in Ugok-myeon, Goryeong-gun, for an on-site tour.
The delegation meticulously examined the growth conditions of the garlic being cultivated and directly observed how Goryeong-gun’s unique know-how in producing high-quality seed garlic affects both yield and quality.
In particular, the Japanese officials were deeply impressed by the consistent quality and marketability of Goryeong garlic. They expressed high expectations regarding the potential to enter the Japanese premium market in the future.
An official from the county stated, “For the sustainable growth of the garlic industry, it is essential not only to ensure stable production of high-quality seed garlic but also to expand into global markets. We hope that this joint Korea-Japan field visit will become a valuable opportunity to increase the income of our garlic farmers and to advance overseas expansion.”
