WooMi Construction and Gyeonggi Province to Foster "Construction Maintenance Multifunctional Workers"… Linking Field Training and Employment

Training Skilled Construction Workers

WooMi Construction is partnering with the Gyeonggi Job Foundation to foster “construction maintenance multifunctional workers” who can be immediately deployed to construction sites, thereby contributing to job creation.

WooMi Construction announced on April 16, 2026, that it recently signed a related business agreement at the Convergence Talent Division of the Gyeonggi Job Foundation in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The signing ceremony was attended by Jung Shingyo, Executive Director of WooMi Construction, and Lee Jinhee, Head of the Convergence Talent Division at the Gyeonggi Job Foundation.

A multifunctional worker refers to a laborer capable of performing a range of processes-such as carpentry, plumbing, and plastering-in contrast to general skilled workers who are specialized in only a single process. In the case of defect repairs at apartment complexes and other multi-unit housing sites, each task typically requires a separate skilled worker for each type of work. However, if one person can handle multiple processes, it can reduce construction time and save on labor costs.

This agreement is being pursued as part of the “2026 Skilled Construction Workforce Training and Employment Support Project.” The Gyeonggi Job Foundation will be responsible for operating the overall training curriculum and conducting the training programs.

WooMi Construction will support trainees with on-site field tour programs that offer practical, hands-on work experience. The company also plans to identify hiring needs across the construction industry, including its own partner companies, to connect program graduates with employment opportunities.

Since 2019, the Gyeonggi Job Foundation has been running skilled construction workforce training programs through the Gyeonggi Technical School. In 2021, it signed a similar agreement with Lotte Construction to foster “multifunctional workers for defect repairs in multi-unit housing.”

A WooMi Construction representative stated, “Through this collaboration, we aim to nurture talent with the practical skills essential for the field and create a virtuous cycle where training leads directly to employment. We will continue to strive for the creation of quality construction jobs and the securing of skilled workers.”
