People Power Party Gyeongbuk Mungyeong Mayoral Primary: Kim Hakhong vs. Eom Wonsik... Four Preliminary Candidates Including Hwang Byeongjik for Yeongju Mayoral Race

The Nomination Management Committee of the People Power Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter (Chairman: Assemblyman Koo Jagun) announced on April 16 that the nomination for the mayoral race in Mungyeong will be decided through a primary between two preliminary candidates: Kim Hak-hong (age 60, former Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs of North Gyeongsang Province) and Eom Wonsik (age 58, head of Gaeun-eup, Mungyeong). The current mayor, Shin Hyun-guk (age 74), was cut off from the nomination process.

The Nomination Management Committee of the People Power Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Chapter also decided that the nomination for the mayoral race in Yeongju will be determined by first selecting two candidates from four preliminary candidates-Song Myungdal (former Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries), Yoo Jeonggeun (former acting mayor of Yeongju), Choi Youngseop (Director of the Yeongju Development Institute), and Hwang Byeongjik (former North Gyeongsang Provincial Council member)-through a preliminary primary, followed by a final primary to select the nominee.

For both the Mungyeong and Yeongju mayoral primaries, the results will be determined by combining 50% from the valid votes of the electoral college and 50% from public opinion polls. In the preliminary primary, 70% will be based on valid votes from the electoral college and 30% from public opinion polls.
