원본보기 아이콘The Didim Seed Savings Account program is a government initiative that has been in place since 2007 to help youth facing financial difficulties prepare for initial expenses as they enter society.
Under this program, if children under protection or from vulnerable groups deposit a certain amount of savings, local governments provide additional support each month, contributing up to twice the amount saved by the company, with a maximum of 100,000 won per month.
From April this year to March next year, POSCO Future M will support a total of 48 million won for 80 youths in regions where its main business sites are located, including Pohang, Gwangyang, Sejong, and Seoul.
If POSCO Future M deposits 50,000 won per person each month, the local government will add twice that amount-100,000 won-resulting in annual support of 1.8 million won per person.
Once the youth reach the age of 18, the savings can be used for purposes such as tuition, job training costs, or housing to support their independence. After turning 24, the funds can be used freely without restrictions.
Since beginning its support for Didim Seed Savings Accounts in 2021, POSCO Future M will have provided a cumulative total of 336 million won by March next year. In 2024, the company also received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare for its contribution to promoting the Didim Seed Savings Account program.
