The White House announced that discussions regarding a second peace summit with Iran are progressing productively, and that Pakistan is a strong candidate to host the next meeting.

On April 15 (local time), White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated during a briefing that "There is a very high possibility that the location will be the same as last time-Islamabad, Pakistan."

She also clarified that the United States has never considered extending the ceasefire period with Iran. The current ceasefire between the United States and Iran is set to end on April 21. While both sides are discussing details of the second summit through a mediating country, some reports have suggested that the ceasefire could be extended by another two weeks.

Press Secretary Levitt said, "There were some erroneous reports this morning claiming we officially requested a ceasefire extension, but that is not true at this time," adding, "We remain very committed to negotiations and talks."

She added, "These conversations are productive and are ongoing." This suggests that, as the discussions for the second round of talks with Iran are progressing well, there is no need to extend the ceasefire.

However, she remained cautious about the possibility of a second summit. Press Secretary Levitt explained, "I've also seen reports about the possibility of an in-person meeting; while such discussions are ongoing, nothing is confirmed until an official announcement is made."
