On April 15, Defense Minister An Kyu-baek met with Chinese Ambassador to South Korea Dai Bing at the Ministry of National Defense in Seoul. They exchanged views on Korea-China defense exchange and cooperation, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and regional affairs.

Minister An and Ambassador Dai recalled the significance of the Korea-China summit held in January 2026, which called for making 2026 the "Year of Full Restoration of Korea-China Relations." They agreed to cooperate to ensure that defense exchanges and cooperation between the two countries proceed smoothly.


Minister An introduced the South Korean government’s consistent efforts to restore trust between South and North Korea and to resume dialogue with North Korea in order to achieve peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula. He also requested China’s constructive role in these efforts.


Ambassador Dai expressed his appreciation for the importance of Korea-China relations and defense exchanges, as well as the need for close communication between the two countries. He also thanked the South Korean government for its continued cooperation in repatriating the remains of Chinese soldiers since 2014.


Minister An and Ambassador Dai agreed to continue close communication in the future to ensure the ongoing development of bilateral defense exchanges and cooperation.
