In particular, on April 15, the event at the Jeju Provincial Government was attended by Jeon Cheonsu, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, as well as members of the Gangwon Residents' Associations in Jeju City (President Choi Jaehyung) and Seogwipo City (President Kim Jinhyung).
The participants signed up for the Gangwon Resident System and joined the Hometown Love Donation Program on site, reaffirming their affection for Gangwon and supporting co-prosperity between the two local governments.
The province plans to expand targeted, on-site promotional activities by directly visiting regions, starting with Jeju, where the Gangwon Resident System’s enrollment rate has been relatively low.
In particular, as Jeju has high tourism demand, the province expects that interest in the Gangwon Resident System will significantly increase as a result.
Additionally, with the number of Gangwon Resident System members recently surpassing 53,000, the spread of the program is accelerating, and this promotional effort is expected to further boost enrollment.
Meanwhile, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province also plans to visit Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province in the second half of the year to jointly promote “Nawda” (Jeju Digital Tourism Pass) and the Hometown Love Donation Program, thereby strengthening mutual cooperation in publicity.
The two local governments intend to work together to expand the resident population and revitalize the Hometown Love Donation Program, while establishing a sustainable regional development cooperation model.
Jeon Heeseon, Director of the Regional Extinction Response Policy Division of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, stated, "Although Gangwon and Jeju are far apart, we are partners growing together under the shared framework of being special self-governing provinces. Through close cooperation, we will overcome the crisis of regional extinction and create a successful model of mutual growth in the era of special self-governing provinces."
