The name combines the greeting 'Hello' and the Korean word 'Hal', which means grandmother or grandfather. The space was established by remodeling idle facilities. In collaboration with the Korea Labor Force Development Institute for the Aged, it was designed to support employment for seniors, encourage social participation among youth, promote intergenerational collaboration, and revitalize the local community.
At the opening ceremony held that day, key figures such as Lee Jangwoo, Chairman of the Life Insurance Foundation, and Kim Sooyoung, President of the Korea Labor Force Development Institute for the Aged, attended and reaffirmed the significance of Hallomarket as a model for intergenerational employment.
Previously, in February last year, the Life Insurance Foundation introduced its first intergenerational employment model by opening the first Hallomarket branch in Suseong-gu, Daegu. At the first branch, 30 jobs were created for seniors, 15 local youth participated in SNS promotion and design collaboration, and snacks were provided to 17 local children's centers, continuing to foster mutual growth with the local community.
Chairman Lee Jangwoo stated, "I hope that Hallomarket will become a model that supports seniors' mental health, creates jobs, and facilitates communication between generations in this era of ultra-aging. The Life Insurance Foundation will continue to expand sustainable platforms for mutual growth, where seniors can feel proud as members of society and build healthy relationships with young people."
