Two Wild Boars Spotted in Downtown Sejong
Roaming Apartment Complexes and Breaking Windows, but No Injuries Reported

While the wolf named "Neukgu," which escaped from Daejeon Zoo, has still not been captured after a week, two wild boars have appeared in the vicinity of apartment complexes in Sejong City. Although the wild boars roamed through various parts of the city, causing property damage such as breaking shop windows, fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries to people.

According to Sejong City and the fire department on April 15, around 30 reports of wild boar sightings were received from 7:00 a.m. to about 8:00 a.m. that day near apartment complexes in the Boram-dong, Sodam-dong, and Jiphyeon-dong areas.

The police and fire authorities immediately dispatched about 30 personnel and began capture operations, concerned about potential safety accidents during school commuting hours. However, it was reported that the capture was difficult because the wild boars, each the size of a large dog, moved rapidly through multiple areas of the city.

During this incident, there were no injuries to people. However, property damage occurred, including broken windows at shops near the apartments and at the dormitory of the Korea Development Institute (KDI).

Sejong City issued an emergency alert message, urging "the elderly and children to pay extra attention to safety, and for drivers to be cautious during their morning commute."

After 8:03 a.m., no additional sightings were reported, and the city's disaster and safety office believes that the wild boars fled toward nearby Goehwa Mountain.
