The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on April 15 that it will implement the "Safety Work-Up Support Project" to prevent industrial accidents and establish a field-oriented safety management system for local convergence home appliance manufacturing companies.
This project is part of the Gwangju Metropolitan City-led job support initiative, based on the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s "Regional & Industry Customized Job Support Project." Its purpose is to strengthen the foundation of industrial safety by establishing safety systems and improving working environments at manufacturing sites.
The support targets manufacturing companies in Gwangju that are involved in the convergence home appliance industry, specifically those that have hired or plan to hire new employees and are committed to preventing industrial accidents and building safety management systems.
The main areas of support include: ▲ building a safety platform ▲ improving safety facilities and equipment ▲ linking safety inspections and consulting ▲ worker-participatory safety campaigns ▲ CEO safety awareness training, among others.
First, the support for building a safety platform will help transition companies' safety management systems to a digital foundation, with up to 1.3 million won provided per company to cover platform usage fees.
Additionally, to address on-site risk factors, up to 25 million won will be provided per company to improve safety facilities and equipment, thereby enhancing the prevention of industrial accidents and the safety of working environments. Customized improvement plans will also be developed through safety inspections and consulting in cooperation with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
Furthermore, the project will promote a safety culture by conducting worker-participatory safety campaigns and CEO safety awareness training in parallel, encouraging both on-site workers and management to be involved together.
Jeon Eunyoung, Head of the Cooperation Projects Division at the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, "The Safety Work-Up Project is significant in that it provides practical support that local convergence home appliance manufacturing companies can experience directly at their worksites, with the aim of creating a safe working environment and establishing a prevention-focused, integrated safety management system. We will actively support the stable establishment of a proactive safety management model in the region’s manufacturing sites by organically linking the introduction of safety platforms, facility improvements, and safety culture promotion programs."
